Terms & Conditions
Last updated: May 23, 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Royal Routes Colombia website, motorcycle rentals, and guided tours. By booking a tour, renting a motorcycle, or using this site, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. About us
Royal Routes Colombia is a motorcycle tour and rental company based in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia. References to "we", "us", and "our" refer to Royal Routes Colombia. References to "you" and "rider" refer to the person booking or using our services. Contact: royalroutescol@gmail.com.
2. Bookings and reservations
A reservation request submitted through our website is an offer to book. Your reservation is confirmed only after we send a written confirmation by email. Until that point, dates, motorcycles, hotels, and gear remain subject to availability. Estimated totals shown by our trip builder are non-binding quotes and may change based on real-time availability, currency fluctuations, and the final route.
3. Pricing and payment
All prices are displayed and charged in Colombian Pesos (COP). A deposit may be required to secure your dates, with the balance due before departure. Payment methods, deposit amount, and balance schedule are confirmed in writing at the time of booking. You are responsible for any bank, currency-conversion, or international transfer fees charged by your payment provider.
4. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations made more than 30 days before the trip start date are eligible for a full refund of payments made, less any non-recoverable third-party fees (hotel deposits, payment-processing fees). Cancellations made 15–30 days before departure are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 14 days of departure are non-refundable, but credit toward a future trip within 12 months may be offered at our discretion. If we cancel a tour for reasons within our control (e.g. mechanical issues with all available motorcycles), you are entitled to a full refund or a rescheduled trip of equivalent value.
5. Eligibility and rider requirements
Riders must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid motorcycle license valid in their country of residence, together with an International Driving Permit (IDP) where applicable. You must have prior riding experience appropriate to the bike and route you select. We may refuse service or end a tour early if a rider's skill, behavior, or condition (including being under the influence of alcohol or drugs) creates a safety risk. No refund is owed in that case.
6. Insurance
Every motorcycle is covered by Colombian mandatory liability insurance (SOAT) and a third-party liability policy. This does not cover damage to the motorcycle itself, theft, personal injury, or personal belongings. We strongly recommend you obtain comprehensive travel insurance that includes motorcycle riding before your trip. You are responsible for any deductibles, damage, or losses not covered by our policies.
7. Rider responsibility for the motorcycle
From the moment a motorcycle is handed over until it is returned, you are responsible for it. You must obey all Colombian traffic laws, wear the helmet and protective gear provided, and ride only on roads and routes agreed in advance. You may not lend the motorcycle to anyone else, use it for racing, commercial transport, or off-route off-road riding, or operate it under the influence. Any traffic fines or tolls incurred during your rental are your responsibility.
8. Damage, loss, and theft
You agree to pay the cost of repair for any damage to the motorcycle or gear caused during your rental, up to the replacement value of the affected items. In the case of theft, you must report the incident to the local police immediately and provide us with a copy of the report; failure to do so may make you liable for the full replacement value. A separate rental contract (signed at handover) sets out specific damage rates and the security deposit.
9. Required documents
Before departure, every rider must upload a clear copy of their passport and motorcycle license through their account dashboard, list an emergency contact, and electronically sign the rental contract. Documents are stored securely and retained for 90 days after the end of the trip, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted (see our Privacy Policy).
10. Tours, itineraries, and changes
Tour itineraries reflect our intended route, hotels, and activities. We may modify any element of a tour — including the route, hotels, or schedule — for safety, weather, road conditions, or operational reasons. Where possible we will offer an equivalent alternative. We are not liable for losses arising from changes made for reasons outside our reasonable control.
11. Conduct
We expect every rider to treat staff, fellow riders, hotel staff, and locals with respect. Behavior that endangers others, damages property, or disrupts the trip may result in your removal from the tour without refund. You are responsible for your own actions while in Colombia.
12. Health and physical condition
Motorcycle touring is physically demanding and involves inherent risk. You confirm that you are in adequate physical and mental health to ride and that you have disclosed any medical conditions, medications, or allergies relevant to your safety. You ride at your own risk.
13. Force majeure
We are not responsible for delays, cancellations, or changes caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, road closures, civil unrest, strikes, epidemics, or government actions. Where a trip cannot run for such reasons, we will work in good faith to reschedule or offer a credit.
14. Intellectual property
All content on this website — including text, photography, video, logos, route maps, and the Royal Routes name — is owned by Royal Routes Colombia or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or use any of it commercially without our written permission. Photographs and videos taken during tours may be used by us for marketing unless you ask us in writing not to.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by Colombian law, our total liability for any claim arising from a tour or rental is limited to the amount you paid for that tour or rental. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses including missed flights, lost income, or emotional distress.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be submitted to the competent courts of Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you book is the one that applies to your trip. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
18. Privacy and data protection
Using this site involves the processing of personal data and the use of cookies and advertising tools, including the Meta Pixel with advanced matching, which may transmit a securely hashed, irreversible version of contact details you enter (such as your email or phone) to Meta to measure and improve our advertising. We process personal data in accordance with Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 ("Habeas Data"). Full details — what we collect, how we share it, international transfers, retention, and how to exercise your rights — are set out in our Privacy Policy.
